Setting a new Direction.

Ever wonder the difference between Windsurfing and other mainstream sports like soccer, basketball or frisbee? Other than the fact that the former is on water while the others on land?

Very often as instructors, we will very much like to see each and every participant
come back after their basic course. But we understand that this is not possible. Why?
Because windsurfing is different from the mainstream sports.

You can take a soccer and start kicking.
You can take a basketball and start bouncing.
You can take a frisbee and start throwing.

But can you take a board+sail and start sailing?
This is one aspect that beginners need to understand and appreciate. Windsurfing not
unlike cycling, has a steep learning curve. Think back when you first got on a bicycle.
I believe everyone has had their fair share of falling before getting the hang of it.

Windsurfing is the same. The learning curve is steep. To make matters worse, we are
so used to walking on the ground that the first step on the board seems very "weird",
with nothing firm beneath. But for those who have succeeded and gone past this stage,
you will realized that it is like cycling. You got to keep trying. Once you get the hang of
it, you will never forget it (muscle memory).

So back to our initial topic on the differences. We can teach and learn soccer, basketball
and frisbee in a big group (in fact, the more the merrier). But it is difficult to teach and
even more difficult to learn in a big group for windsurfing. With it's steep learning curve,
windsurfing is about discovering your own individuality and the rentless pursuit of excellence.

Hence, we are hoping to set a new Direction:

1) "Keeping our student to instructor at a maximum of 4:1"

2) To achieve a retention rate of 70% and helping to grow the windsurfing faternity

3) And most importantly: To make certain that each and every student from our developmental program enjoy windsurfing as it should be.

Together with your support, we will work towards this new Direction!

Windsurfing Factor: The First Posting

Welcome to Windsurfing Factor.

After the successful launch of our official website (http://www.windsurfing-factor.os3.sg/)
in March this year, we are going ahead with a complimentary blog.

While the website remains as an official medium for anyone interested in more details
of our programs, we have decided to create this blog as an interactive space for everyone
to voice their comments and suggestions. With this in mind, we hope to improve our
services and tailor our programs to suit each individual as they progress through the
learning curve.

Do feel free to add in any suggestions that you might be interested in. We are in the
process of adding photos from the weekly courses we organize. Till the next post!

Good Winds,
